I’ve only worked at two fast-food places. This Cavalry place hasn’t even seen my application yet, I have a friend who put me on a list of people to call. Anyway, I have no collections experience, obviously, no resume, and a past job for 1 year, a past job for 6 months. I really don’t want to sit down, answer all of the interview questions, and then get a big fat “you didn’t get the job.” Do I NEED experience? Do I need a resume? I’m 18 and have been out of highschool for a little while… will that have any affect on their decision?
I have an interview with Cavalry Portfolio Services as a debt collector, do I need Collections experience?

I would create a resume for sure. And if this is an entry-level position then you may be able to get by with no experience. They will be looking for someone who is good in communicating via the phone and that can diligent about making calls and following up. And someone who is not afraid to ask people for the money that they owe. You may want to research the Fair Debt Practices Act (FDCPA) and be able to cite something g from it in your interview. This could be an exciting career for you; you can gain some experience from this job and then move on and learn Credit Analysis or work for a company as an Accounts Receivables manager these types of job pay around $40 to $65K.
