How much money should i have to invest without risking my future?
and as a first time investor should i choose Bonds or stocks?

Anyways, I would like to know how much money orthodontists make in a year. I’d most likely prefer to specialize in both adults’ and childrens’ teeth.
Even better, but not required for best answer: Compare the amount of money an orthodontist makes per year to that of a Portfolio Manager of an investment company.
Oh, and I would like the answerer to take into consideration that I would be opening up my own practice.

Let’s assume I invest in the typical “moderate-risk” portfolio with a mixture of bonds, stocks, and internationals.
Let’s also assume that I don’t flip the account at all the entire year. No active trading.
I’m asking this because my mom, who’s retired, is paying a financial planner 1% on her 0.9 mil account that really is quite straightforward (mainly income stocks), and I was wondering if a popular brokerage would offer similar services at lower rates.

I recently saw a Photo portfolio made by a relative by a professional photographer . She looked so different and beautiful ! She is even getting a small advertising assignment based on the portfolio. If one sees her in the morning without make up , she would look so different and ugly. I am surprised ! actually many women look cute without make up also. Can just a good photographer make so much of difference in what you are and what the photo indicates ?

I recently decided to try and take control of my own portfolio and open an online brokerage account. I would like to take at least 20 positions, but that would mean at least 199 dollars in brokerage fees alone. Since I have only about 1000 dollars per month available to invest, how can I diversify without spending close to 20% on brokerage fees alone? I also invest in mutual funds, but I want to try and beat their performance with my own picks, but since brokerage fees seem to eat up so much of my initial investmant, I would really have to hit it big with my picks before I made any money and so far I haven’t even recovered the cost of my brokerage fees. Are mutual funds the only way to avoid high brokerage fees? I know that mutual funds charge management fees, but I don’t think that it’s 20% of my investment. Any suggestions?

I have a good portfolio, 2 years experience under my belt, and I have an associates degree in design communications. How much should I be making at a screen printing company. I’m their only designer and work on a variety of ads, web pages, and shirt designs with ZERO complaints. I’m trying to figure out if I’m under paid and how much I should ask for a raise. Thanks!
