I have a internal and external HDD that have failed -at separate times- They have a lot of family videos and photos as well as a good deal of my portfolio work, I work in animation and video effects. so there is a lot of stuff I cannot replace on these drives.
The drives are making various clicking noises and cannot be accessed I have determined that they are most likely a mechanical issue what price range am I looking at to get these repaired? By this I mean the clean room repair -i can only asume I will pay through the rear- but what price range am I looking at? Also I have a decent deal of sensitive info on the drives and was wondering what the privacy looks like with the recovery of the files. ie do they keep copies view files or what, for those of you knowlegeable to the process.
I just deleted some very important pictures (they were for my work portfolio) & I need to get them back! I’ve downloaded 3 demo version of data recovery software for the flash drive & each one says in order for me to get my files back, I have to buy them. Is there a site where I can download a free exe. and receive all my files back? Or does someone have a license key?
it looks like a car repo . the vehcile was taken ia 1996 a ford explorer. it was from the ford motor credit. the vehicle was purchased in new york state. they must of sold it that year but said there was a balance of $13,000. but are agreeing to settle for half. i never got a letter sayting they sold the vehicle. all of a sudden i get this letter from portfolio recovery asso. llc. they keep calling me twice a day every day is this harrasment? also is the statue of limations in new york 6 years? its been 14 years.
Which stocks are you buying? My impression is that buying stocks cheaply now can increase your portfolio tenfold when things get back to normal.But some stocks will rise higher than others of course.Which are the most undervalued stocks right now?
These guys are saying that I owe money and it has hit my credit. I have not had a thing in my name in about 2 years. My credit was clean. They gave me no phone # on my experian account. Any advice? I cant even buy a house now. They are out of Norfolk, VA.
Is anyone else getting bizarre calls from Portfolio Recovery? They say I owe on a Visa bill from 1993! I told them I did not and they keep calling with threats and insults. I told them to take me to court and get a judge to order me to pay after they prove the debt is real.
The calls started sometime last summer and this is the first I’ve heard that I owe money from 1993.
Are these people are valid company or are they manufacturing /buying fake debt records?
The telephone number they are contacting me on is in Illinois. To what government agency can I report them to?
for about 1 week now me husband or i have received numerous phone calls from a debt collector called Portfolio Recovery Associates. i searched it and it does seem to be legit. but from day one she began speaking about a letter that was sent out long before she ever started calling, we never received a letter. she claims she sent out another about 10 days ago and we still haven’t received it. we get all of our other mail why aren’t we getting this letter? also, she asked if she could fax it to me, i told her yes. i gave her my WORK fax number. and that was about an hour ago. i still haven’t received a fax. she is also VERY adimit about me setting up an automatic with draw from my checking monthly, im not comfortable doing that and as soon as i mentioned that she said well it will be another 5 dollar charge if you use a credit or debit card to pay the payment. she claims she is trying to make it easier but the further we go along with this the more difficult it gets. what should i do? can i call the past credit card company and ask whom the account is now with?

I HAVE ONE MORE BAD DEBT ON MY CREDIT REPORT AND IT IS FOR AN OLD CELL PHONE FOR $500. PORTFOLIO RECOVERY OBVIOUSLY TOOK OVER AND MY HUSBAND RECETLY CALLED TO SEE IF WE COULD DO A SETTLEMENT AND THEY WERE VERY RUDE AND TOLD US NO, THAT WE NEED TO PAY IT ALL. I have had some problems with trying to talk to these people and get some information on a collection they say I owe. They are really cryptic when I ask them things and they refuse to give us a mailing address.
It is making me worried that they are a scam or some kind of thing to do identity theft or something. How can I find out if they are for real? I mean like real proof, not just somebody saying, ‘yeah, they are for real’.
they called about a dept they said that was owed in 1998 on a credit card. i have another credit card from the same c.c company now. so i thought they were talking about that one. come to find out they werent and they took a 50.00 dollar payment out. i called portfolio and told them they were not allowed to take anymore money out from my account because that credit card was paid off. they agreed but how can i be assured that they wont. they have my banking info. what can i do.
i keep getting calls from them like everyday but i dont answer. i did owe my financial aid $400 this last semester but i paid it back and ihave the recipt that i paid it back in full. thats the only thing i can think of. im 19 i dont have any credit cards no car nothing.
